The European Parliament adopted a resolution approving an own-initiative report on the SCE on 13 March 2012.

The resolution criticises the slowness of some member states in implementing articles in the SCE legislation regarding employee involvement. The resolution also supports the simplification of the SCE legislation, but states that this should not come at the cost of worker involvement rights. It also recommends that the Directive on employee involvement should not be revised before the Statute, and also suggests that the two pieces of legislation be integrated in the interests of simplification.
