Financial Participation

Employee financial participation in the form of employee (share) ownership or profit-sharing plays only a small role in Cyprus’ economy.

Public and political interest in this topic is relatively low.1 Cooperatives are the most important form of employee participation. The Cypriot cooperative sector is among the best developed in the world. It is estimated that a little under half of all employees are cooperative members in Cyprus.2
